Contaminated.

Contaminated, which focuses on Covid-19) and its impact on day-to-day life.  The project revolves around Kiehfuss’ own personal view of the pandemic as well as the general public’s views.  She aims to emphasize the loss of touch and community, focusing on beautiful yet partially lost aspects of our lives. 

Contaminated highlights places and activities that we used to share but could not anymore.  There are four paintings that show beauty and nostalgia. Ghostly figures show up in each, hinting at what we were able to do previous to the pandemic. These images are deepened by acrylic sheets suspended in front of each canvas. These seemingly abstract images reference cell magnifications--the view of the hypochondriac, a kind of X-ray vision focusing on how contaminated everyone/everything might be.
